Check your water pressure every three to six months. You can get a pressure guage at your neighborhood hardware store that screws onto an outside hose bibb. Make sure the hose bibb you screw it onto is after the pressure reducing valve.

The pressure should read around 60 to 75 psi. If it is higher, open a faucet somewhere and see what the guage registers while water is running. Then turn off the water and watch the gage. If the PRV is bad, the pressure will register whatever the street pressure is. I’ve seen it go as high as 180 psi. Not good. Replace the PRV and your washing machine hoses.
